We aim to cater for the needs of all our visitors to our bed and breakfast which is situated adjacent to our own house. The following statement is a summary of our provisions if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Pre Arrival

There is a bus stop 50 yds from the bed and breakfast. The service runs every two hours during the year. However during the main school holiday the service is every one hour. The buses run to Uttoxeter (town and train station) and Hanley. These buses pass Alton Towers in both directions.

Train - Nearest station is Uttoxeter which is 20minutes by car, nearest main line stations are Derby and Stoke on Trent.

Taxis – There are several local taxis but none in the village of Alton. We can provide local numbers if you require.

The nearest local shop is approx five minute walk or a two minute drive. It sells many essentials. It is open 6am to 9pm seven days a week.

Arrival and Car Parking

We ask guests to arrive after 2pm in order for us to guarantee the rooms are ready for their arrival. If they require a guest can arrive earlier and leave the luggage with us to put into their rooms when they are serviced. Please note all our rooms are en-suite or have private facilities, we do not provide public toilet facilities.

On arrival to the property there is a gate which is always open when the b and b is in operation. There is a sharp right hand turn to our car park which provides adequate parking spaces for our guests. The car park is level and is gravelled.

On arrival the guest is shown the room or rooms which have been booked for them, providing the accommodation is suitable, the guest is invited into our house to register. The path to the house is level and paved. There is a three inch step to enter the house. The door way is 85cms wide. After a guest has signed the register they are issued with the appropriate keys. We will give any assistance that is required with luggage.

The Granary
The Granary is a self contained cottage.  It is situated next door to the main house.  The front door is accessed from the car park.  The step is 12cms high and the door is 88cms wide.  The ground floor is on the same level. The door leads into a lounge area which is carpeted. There is a television,  there is a three seater settee and two armchairs,  a coffee table and two occasional tables.  There is a door which leads from the lounge through to two further doors.  On the left is a bathroom and on the right a kitchen,  the doors are 62cms wide.  The kitchen worktop is 90 cms high.  There is a fridge, electric cooker and stainless steel sink.   There is a table and four chairs in the kitchen.  The height of the table is 30cms.   Guests who are self catering are allowed to use the cooking facilities.  Guests who are staying with us on a bed and breakfast basis may not use the cooking facilities unless by prior arrangement..  However they may use the fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.  

The bathroom contains a toilet which is 17cms high.  A bath, which has  a shower over it.  The step into the bath is 20cm.  The bath has handles on either side.  There is a wash basin which is 32cms tall. 

Access to the bedrooms is from a stair case in the lounge.  The stairs are 20cms high  and consist of one flight of 8 stairs, a landing area and a further four steps arriving at a landing with two doors one leading into each bedroom. The doors are 2ft 6ins wide. The first bedroom consists of a double bed which is 4ft 6ins wide and a single bed which is 3ft wide, both are 19inchs  high.  There is a small bedside table on each side of the double bed with a table lamp on each.  There is a pine wardrobe and chair.  The 2nd bedroom consists of a double bed which is 4ft 6ins wide  and 19inchs high and a single bed which is 3ft wide and 23inchs  high.  There is a bedside table with a table lamp on either side of the double bed.  There is one bedside table and lamp next to the single bed.  There is a pine wardrobe and chair. 

The Granary has central heating and hot and cold running water.  There is an electric fire in the lounge should additional heating be required. 

The Byre 

The entrance to the Byre is from the car park the door is 30inchs wide and the step is 10inchs high.  This room is where we serve breakfast.  It contains four tables (1 x six seater, 1 x four seater and 2 x 2 seater).  The height of the chair seats is  17inchs  and the height of the tables is 29inchs.  This area is for use of all guests during breakfast service from 8.30 until 9am.  From the dining area is a door through to the Catering kitchen and the lounge area of the Byre. The door is 26inchs wide.  The Catering Kitchen consists of work sutfaces which are 36inchs .  There are tea and coffee making facilities for the use of guests and a fridge.  Guests may prepare sandwiches or picnics in this area but there are no cooking facilities. 

The lounge area of the Byre consists of one three seater settee and one armchair.   The seats are 17inchs high.  There is a coffee table and a television on a stand.  From this area there is a flight of stairs to two en-suite bedrooms.  There are 13 stairs each being 8inchs high.  The width of the staircase is 32inchs. These lead to a small landing area.
 

Please note there is twist in the flight of stairs.  The 1st bedroom had a door way which is 24inches wide.  There is a double bed which is 4ft 6inchs wide and  21inchs high.  There is a bed side table with a table lamp on one side of the bed and a round table on the other side of the bed. The table has tea and coffee making facilities and a table lamp on.  There is a television on a wall mount, a mirror and a wardrobe. Off the bedroom is a door way into the bathroom this door is 26inchs wide.  The bathroom consists of a washbasin which is  30inchs high.  A bath which has shower taps it is 20inchs high, and a toilet which is  16inchs high.    Across the landing area is another bedroom.  The door is  26inchs wide.  There is a double bed which is 4ft 6inchs wide and 20inchs high with a bedside table on each side of the bed with a table lamp. There is a wardrobe, chair, television and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The door way to the shower room is 24inchs wide.  There is a hand wash basin which is 30inchs high. It has a shower cubicle with an electric shower there is a step of 10inchs to gain entrance to the shower.  There is a toilet which is 16inchs high.. 

The Byre is centrally heated.  There is an additional oil fired heater in the lounge area  

The Appleloft 

The Appleloft has a separate entrance from the car park.  The door is  29 inchs  wide and the step in 8 inchs high.  There is a flight of  11  stairs to the entrance to the room. The staircase is 30inchs wide and the steps are 8inchs high. The top of the stairs there is a cupboard which can be used to store luggage etc.  The entrance to the room has a door which is  26 inchs wide.  The room contains a double bed which is 4ft 6ins wide and 19inchs high. It  has a bed side table on either side with a lamp and tea and coffee making facilities.  There is a tv mounted on the wall,  The bathroom has a door which is  26inchs  wide it contains a wash basin which is 30inchs  high,  A shower cubicle with an electric shower. There is a toilet which is 16inchs high, 

The Appleloft is centrally heated and has an additional electric fire.
